[Mission] RHYTHM IN THE BLUES
Who: Oscilla, Maya, Riptide, Aniwarp, Shade Man, Bass, Skywarp
What: When you sneak into a fae teen secret rave party to steal something that is more than meets the eye...
When: Mid-June-ish
Where: O'Connor Estates
Warnings: teens doing ill-advised things, fae magic causing chaos, death, adults doing a terrible job pretending to be teens, potential violence, magical reactions, etc
Oscilla had seen a stream on Startok the social media network designed mostly for young adults that she scrolled when she was bored and wanted to see what kind of irrelevant drama was happening. She never posted herself, but she was stalked and scrolled for hours when she had nothing better to do with her time.
She almost swiped through the video only to go back. It was some fae, showing off his "hab" which she knew was likely his parents' luxurious residence, but he had a lot of antiquities and various artifacts of cultures from across the world.
The boombox was spotlighted in a room about Ancient Organic Cultures, a cassette leaning right against it.
She knew that wasn't a typical music box circa Earth Culture 1985. She knew exactly what she was looking at and the fae youth didn't seem to care one way or another. He talked about how influential the culture was, how it had inspired a lot of his more "exciting events" and with that he gave a wink and a hand sign that she didn't recognize, but knew had to mean something. And so she researched. She dug into the youth-culture on the net and found that the lowkey symbol was a notice of some kind of secret party soon to come. "Be ready to party" it would note.
And this party just so happened to be the biggest event this side of the Partak Supernova. A rave influenced by Earth culture of the 2000s it claimed. Come dressed to impress. No adults allowed and keep your parents out of it.
More research found that this was the O'Connor Estates of the Leprechaun Fae orbital estates and Young O'Connor would have the entire estate to himself for a week or more, most of it leading up to his big rave party. A party that Oscilla knew she had to get into.
So she went to Maya.
Getting an invitation wouldn't have been hard for someone like Maya. She was still a fae princess after all. And certainly she was allowed her own entourage for this not-so-secret secret rave full of young fae and kin from across the universe. The only rule being no adults allowed meant that Oscilla and the other adults involved would have to do something different...disguise themselves as teens.
The teens who come along still have to disguise themselves, too, but they're job is a little different. They are the surveillance and information team. Their role is to mingle, enjoy the party, and pass information to the those who would be handling the other side of the mission.
Steal that boombox.
And as they shared the nondescript ship to reach the orbital estate, Oscilla looked around at all of the people who had come along. It wasn't the team she would have preferred but...it would have to do. At least they all disguised themselves well enough. She could make this work.
Failure was not an option.
